pros - good value, great size, deep base.

cons - door size and accessibility.

Cages

Rats require a large cage with lots of space to climb and explore. They can range in price quite significantly however there are some great cages out there for a reasonable prince.

I will try and include a range of suitable cages for all budgets.

The number of rats is only a guide and this will vary depending on your groups dynamics.

I have no affiliation with any of the websites i have linked to. They are simply just websites that supply the cages i have mentioned.

Savic Rat & Ferret Cage Royal Suite 95

95 x 63 x 159 cm

This is one of the most popular cages for large groups of rats. I personally have a triple version of this cage. I would recommend this for groups of 6-12 rats. it can be used as one large cage or two smaller ones.

pros - great size, kick guards, large secure doors, storage underneath.

cons - price, can rust over time

Furat Plus

 70 x 48 x 78cm

This was my first cage and i really liked it. Its not the cheapest cage of this size but its easily accessible as available from pets at home. you can often pick one up second hand at a reasonable price as well. This cage would be suitable for 2-3 rats.

pros - good access, flattens down, deep base.

cons - price for the size

Popmazing Flight Cage

77 x 46 x 129 cm

This has become a popular page within the rat community. it does however require some modification as its designed as a bird cage. you would need to remove the wire shelves and floor. many people have great success with using a storage box to keep substrate in. suitable for 3-5 rats.

pros -value for money

cons - small doors, requires modification
